PALO VERDE WILDLIFE RIVER BOAT CRUISE
The Palo Verde National Park tour in Guanacaste, Costa Rica is usually on everyone's must-see list when visiting the Guanacaste Region. Your day starts early as we pick you up from your hotel or condo and drive you to one of the rarest and bio-diverse eco systems in the world. Recommended for those who seek wildlife and birdlife. Palo Verde comprises dry forest, wetland and mangrove swamps, which is an ideal habitat for Costa Rican crocodiles, monkeys, iguanas, parrots and other exotic birds. The Palo Verde Tour carries you through one of the largest concentrations of waterfowl in Central America. After the tour enjoy a typical Costa Rica lunch at a local restaurant and then enjoy a short tour of the how pottery is produced in nearby villages.
The Palo Verde National Park Riverboat Tour takes place along a stretch of the Tempisque River Conservation Area in Guanacaste Province, 30 km west of Canas, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The surrounding region is mostly tropical dry forest, and the Park focuses on conserving vital floodplain, marshes, limestone ridges and seasonal pools from the encroachment of civilization to mitigate the risk to the ecology.
A major feature is the density and variety of bird species, a substantial factor that led to the creation of the reserve, due in part to its diverse ecology: 15 different topographical zones ranging from evergreen forests to mangrove swamps. Birds spotted regularly in the park include Great Curassows, Scarlet Macaws, White Ibis, Roseate Spoonbills, Anhingas, Jabirus, and Wood Storks, among many others.
Your guide will come to your hotel and condo with transportation to take you to the PAlo Verde wetlands (Pick up times vary on location). Once you arrive at the wetlands you will be guided to your riverboat and begin the two hour tour exploring the river and the wildlife. Bring binoculars if you have them and cameras with telephoto zoom lenses.
Once the riverboat returns your guide will take you to a traditional Costa Rican Restaurant for lunch and you will also have a chance to visit local pottery artisans. After that your guide will transport you back to your hotel or house and leave you with wonderful memories of the day.
